Jim and I caught the tram down to St Kilda last Saturday. I can’t believe it’s been twenty years since I was last there. Everything was pretty much as I remember – Palais Theatre, Luna Park, Acland Street – and that slightly bo-ho vibe, although nowhere near what it used to be.

We had a lovely lunch at a restaurant on Fitzroy Street and soaked up a bit of sunshine, then wore our meals off with a wander around. I thought I’d share some of the photos and maybe a brief memory or two.

Luna Park. Yup, it’s still going.

The Palais Theatre. I went and saw Meat Loaf in concert here… Lovely old building but Melbourne has some wonderful architecture.

Ahh, Acland Street and its famous cake shops. Maybe it’s me, but they don’t seem quite as amazing as they used to. Mind you, that doesn’t stop me pressing my nose against the window and drooling!
