I’ve never been to the Sydney Royal Easter Show but last Monday I remedied that. And what a ball I had too!
There was so much to see, from all the fun of the animal pavilions to the woodchopping arena to the wonders of the indoor exhibits. Over-excitement had me going a bit silly on the photo taking front leaving me with so many pictures to share I’m going to have to do so in two posts.
First up, the animals!
I spent a very pleasant while watching the sheep judging. The pavilion seemed to overflow with Merlins, star ram from my soon to be released rural romance, The Falls.
Then it was across to the poultry pavilion where I spent a very joyful time. Poultry always cracks me up. They’re extremely vocal, rather weird and all round hilarious!
Off to the goat, pig and cattle sheds I went…
Sadly, there weren’t many horse events on the day I was there, and those that were scheduled weren’t until late afternoon and evening, but I did manage a bit of a horsey fix.
The horses below are Percherons and they’re ENORMOUS!
Again, there weren’t many dogs out and about but I spotted these. Poor things looked bored out of their brains.
This one looked like a stuffed toy!
Then to the absolute pandemonium that is the animal nursery…
They rotate the animals around so they don’t get over-stressed or overfed. It’s all very tiring!
This donkey was totally relaxed about the whole affair. Perhaps a tad too relaxed…
And that’s all the animal photos!
Stay tuned for the next instalment when I share the human side of the show. Some of the craftwork on exhibit was incredible.
