It’s Teaser Tuesday time again, the tantalising series where I share snippets from my novels, old, new and in progress, and occasionally let author buddies take over.
This week l learned that Wayward Heart has gone to the typesetter which means next stop will be proofreading. So close to the end of the production phase! The cover is still being finalised so it might be a little while yet before I can show it off. I can’t wait. Harlequin Australia create wonderful covers and I have every faith they’ll produce a beauty for Wayward Heart too.
Finishing Wayward Heart’s edits reminded me how much I love this book and adore Jasmine and Digby’s story. It’s so lovely. Sigh. Mind you, as the author I would say that but I sincerely believe you’ll love their story too, and be barracking for these big-hearted people to find their happy ever after.
One of the best things about writing Wayward Heart was that I got to play again with much-loved characters. Granny B, who you might recall from Rocking Horse Hill, is one of my all-time favourites and it was huge fun to include her in the story. She’s so naughty!
Here’s a taste of her. Only a little though. We don’t want to peak too early and I plan to do a lot more teasing in the lead up to release!
Even wearing a fuchsia plastic Alice band on her head, topped with two sparkly multicoloured unicorns on springs and a square of pink card on which ‘Daffy Duck’ was inscribed in glittery gold letters, Granny B still managed to act as regal as a queen.
Not that her manner had much effect on Em’s bridal shower guests. Not after well over three hours of multiple champagne toasts, canapés, chatter, and silly party games. The mood was warm and relaxed, any last remaining barriers broken down by a hard-fought game of Celebrity Head. A game Granny B seemed hell-bent on winning.
