This week’s topic:
Characters I’d Invite to a Dinner Party
I’ve been posed this question before, but quite some time ago. If memory serves me, my number one guest was Rupert Campbell-Black from Jilly Cooper’s Rutshire Chronicles stories, Rivals and Riders. Rupert is (or has been) a gorgeous British toff, Olympic showjumping medallist, racehorse breeder and trainer, Member of Parliament and notorious womaniser. Until he meets his match with Taggie O’Hara.
In his glory days, he would have been a hoot. He would have gotten horribly drunk and tried to seduce every woman at the table, simply for the hell of it. I’m not sure I’d find that as amusing as I once would have. So much mess… And he’d probably ignore me anyway and put me in a sulk.
Who would be number one on the list now?
Daniel Craig’s James Bond. He’d be exceedingly well behaved, interesting and erudite, and I could spend the evening gazing dreamily into those beautiful blue eyes. He’d also be very good at ousting any naughty people. Or spies. Not that I could imagine hosting a spy at one of my dinner parties, but you never know.
The other person I’d have to dinner is British wizard Newt Scamander from “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. I find him completely gorgeous and if I was very, very lucky, I might get to take a dive in his suitcase and visit all his wonderful creatures.
What characters would you invite to dinner?
